The 168.3 mm outside diameter with a 7.11 mm wall gives a higher load capacity than mild steel grades of the same size, which suits moderately stressed lines, machine frames and general engineering work. Pipe is available with a black, varnished or coated finish.

It remains readily weldable under normal fabrication practice, and pipe can be supplied in fixed or random lengths with the end finish, coating and marking matched to the project specification.
