Deformed steel bar (rebar) HRB500 28mm is a high-strength hot-rolled ribbed reinforcing bar with a nominal yield strength of 500 MPa, supplied in standard 12-meter lengths for heavily loaded reinforced concrete members. Compared with HRB400, the 500 MPa grade delivers roughly 25% more design strength, so engineers can specify a smaller diameter or fewer bars — cutting steel tonnage and reducing congestion in dense reinforcement cages.

HRB500 28mm deformed steel bar is specified for columns, core walls, transfer beams, bridge piers and pile caps in high-rise and long-span structures, where higher yield strength translates directly into a lower reinforcement ratio and easier concrete placement. The transverse and longitudinal ribs create reliable mechanical bond with the surrounding concrete, ensuring firm anchorage under tension. Because HRB500 carries a higher carbon-equivalent content than lower grades, bending and welding should follow the specified minimum bend radii and qualified procedures set out in the structural drawings.
