ASTM A213 T22 is a 2-1/4 Cr – 1 Mo ferritic alloy steel boiler tube supplied in the seamless condition for elevated-temperature service. The 2 inch size is commonly ordered for superheater, reheater and heat exchanger sections in power and process boilers, where the grade’s creep strength and oxidation resistance match the operating metal temperature. Tubes are supplied normalized and tempered.

T22 sits in the middle of the boiler tube family. It carries more chromium and molybdenum than carbon steel grades, which lifts its high-temperature strength, but it is not a stainless grade. Buyers often specify it where an alloy boiler steel tube is required by the design but where austenitic or higher-alloy tubing would be unnecessary. Wall thickness follows the design pressure and temperature rather than the nominal size alone, so the same 2 inch OD is available in several wall thicknesses.
